Laura Jackson is a writer and performer with a passion for strong female roles and narratives. 

Laura Jackson is performer, writer and producer with a passion for strong female narratives. Laura’s work speaks to women’s experiences in the modern world, exploring street harassment, domestic violence, online privacy and fertility.

Highly credentialed, Laura is a graduate of the prestigious three year BFA Acting at NIDA – class of 2018 as well as holding a BCA Performance, an MFA Creative Writing and a Dip Ed from the University of Wollongong.

In 2022, Laura received the Ian Potter Cultural Trust grant, awarded for 'international development opportunities for exceptional talent’. In 2023, her play ‘The Culture’ was chosen as one of ‘ten outstanding new plays from around the world’ for a rehearsed reading for industry in London at the Playwrights Laboratory, Arcola Theatre.


Laura played the role of Katie in her two-hander ‘The Culture’, on an international tour through 2022 and 2023. The play premiered in NYC, and toured to Wellington (NZ). Adelaide, Hobart, Sydney and Melbourne. Laura also performed six characters in her one-woman play ‘Handle It’ touring across seven seasons, the fringe circuit, and a UN Women charity performance and International Women’s Day performances.

Laura has several new plays in development, including co-written play ‘Speak Now’ exploring the same-sex marriage debate in Australia. Laura collaborates with an illustrator to self-publish children’s books as part of ‘LB Library’ and is polishing her first novel ‘Keeping Score’.

In 2024, Laura travelled to Forbes with touring company Convict Footprints and played French show girl Lily and Scottish landowner Elizabeth in a play about the gold rush and history of the town, performed in historial, site-specific locations.

During her time at NIDA Laura played leading roles in the productions, including Lucia (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown), Lady Fidget (The Country Wife), Willow (The Colbie Sisters of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania) and Grusha (Caucasian Chalk Circle).

Beyond her tertiary education, Laura has completed further specialised training with highly regarded industry mentors in writing with the Australian Writers’ Centre, accents, screen acting and self-taping, and the Estill voice method.
